Over The Sea After
- SK Bandar 1, OKK Abu Bakar Road, Tawau [day X+1 of quarantine]. 13th of May 2020 (Wednesday), 04:19PM
If you thought I was finished with the Kinabalu trip, you thought wrong (haha, what's with the hostility?). I obviously took a ticket to Peninsula Malaysia, having a week meetup/reunion with my other close friends. We managed to explore (food hunting style) three states, Melaka being the tastiest and Johore being the most surprising. However, I do think the time I spent in this particular vacation was too short. I need more food sampling sessions, baby! I'm having my eyes at Langkawi, Kedah. If God is willing. Hope He will.
A view as we went downhill.
Last coffee before departing from Panalaban.
I know it's random, but I had to stop by at Tenom whenever chance presents itself. I mean, for me, it's the third most beautiful district of Sabah. Especially the view from a newly-established cafe on one of its hills. The drink/food are so-so. It's with whom that matters.
What a view, kan?
I don't know how I ended up in a Christmas caroling venue. Guess I'm a sucker for festivity.
Late night, outdoor, pizza-based supper. A reflective one, too.
So, after I touched down, these two people fetched me from the station. We did some catching up - breezy ones - because I for one know damn well that the best kind of catching up is the one that's done over a hearty meal. Nothing drastic had changed on them. They still appeared humorous and strangely complementary. Well. That's a weird way to put out things.
A hearty meal. Boy, the sangkhayya bread here is insanely good.
A boulevard of some sort. It really looks nice, as is shown in the picture. Multitudes of Johoreans were crowding the large open space. I like what the municipal did aesthetically to this place. Not too much, not too little. Just enough to make me miss it now, to be honest. I miss the sight of people gathering. Used to despise it, now I learned it the hard way to appreciate it.
Izzuddin, Zulfadhli and me. Izzu and Zul are educational YouTubers, and very good at content production. I often act as their quality control agent (by which, I mean, I cricitize them a lot haha).
A very expensive but bland and oily meal.
Spaghetti oglio Thailand style. Oh Goddamn this tasted delicious. I mean, the whole thing about this cafe - its location, ambience, service - I gave this a full five stars. Sadly the last time I checked it out, it went out of operation.
At St. Regalia's condominium. Izzu rented it for a couple of days. I gotta say, one of my best vacation stays.
I mean, come on.. infinite pool which overlooks Kuala Lumpur's city scape? Too bad haze was pretty big deal back then, so the overall sight was bummed out.
Our last meal before my return flight to Tawau. Surprisingly, this restaurant offered the best meal during the entire food hunting. A food before the end. Had it been a late night meal, I would've called it the Last Supper haha.
